Double Curse Double Cure
When it comes to sickness and disease there are so many Christians that are confused about where it comes from and what is the purpose of it in their lives. Some have even been taught that everything that happens to them in life is the will of God for them. But nothing could be further from the truth. Let’s look at it from this angle using the Word of God as our benchmark. If sickness was the will of God for you, then why did James say, “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up...” (James 5:14-15)
Then we have the words of Jesus in Mark chapter 16 revealing that believers shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. The apostle Peter wrote in I Peter 2:24, “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness: by whose stripes you were healed.” These three witnesses affirm healing for those who are ill.

Mixing Faith with The Word
“But with whom was he grieved forty years? Was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?...So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” (Hebrews 3:17,19) “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.” (Hebrews 4:2)
Who did He call the evil generation? Those that brought back the evil report. The evil report was that they told what they saw, what they felt, and what they heard. That is not always an evil report, only when it disagrees with what God said.
There are many today that unknowingly give evil reports. They are speaking contrary to what God reveals in His Word. Sometimes they pray for victory and get up and confess defeat. Have you ever prayed that God would meet your need, and then a day or two later you were saying that you are so worried that you don’t know what you are going to do?

Bringing Anxiety Captive
Webster defines anxiety as “a state of being uneasy, apprehensive, or worried about what may happen; concerned about a possible future event.” Anxiety is a fact of life in our modern day society. Stress related illness is one of the most popular topics in today’s health magazines. Although some people are more prone to worry than others, I don’t think anyone is immune to anxiety and worry. That is the reason the apostle Paul wrote to the church at Philippi: “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts, and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
The Concordant Literal translation says, “Let nothing be worrying you...” Nothing worrying you??? Sounds impossible doesn’t it? This translation continues with verse 7, “and the peace of God, that is superior to every frame of mind, shall be garrisoning your hearts and your apprehensions in Christ Jesus.”

Faith for God's Opportunities & Provisions
God gave Israel the Promised Land. It was theirs as far as God was concerned, but they had to seize the God-given opportunity to possess it. God told them that He would send an angel to drive out the enemies before them. But an angel wouldn’t do it on his own, God’s people had to be obedient in order to get angelic help. (Exodus 23:20-23)
They knew what God said, but they didn’t take advantage of their opportunity to possess the land of promise. They fixed their attention on the problem rather than God’s promise. “There are giants over there,” they complained. That was certainly true, but the giants had nothing at all to do with what God said. The people had “grasshopper” vision, which caused them to lose their God-given opportunity. And their failure to act in faith concerning God’s Word caused an entire generation to die in the wilderness. The Scripture states, “So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.” (Hebrews 3:19) The bottom line was that they didn’t mix faith with what God said, and fear stole their God-given opportunity from them.

Common Sense + Faith = Success
The message of faith and confession that I teach is based on true principles of the Bible. When these principles are misunderstood some people attempt to believe God for millions of dollars when they haven’t learned to believe God for the money to pay their light bill. Some have overloaded their faith. Some are operating on little faith and trying to believe for millions. To be successful in life we must all learn to operate on our own level of faith.
I think this is why some have caused problems in churches. They have gone to a seminar, where they heard someone teach, “You can have what you say.” But they only got a part of what was taught, and went home thinking they were a three-day wonder.

Calling Things That Are Not
As you study the Bible, you will notice God never does anything until He says it. That’s the way He works. God has done nothing in the earth without first speaking it. Even now, it seems that God will do nothing in the earth unless it is spoken, prophesied or called for by the prayer of faith.
Romans 4:17 tells us that God “quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which be not as though they were.” In other words, God speaks the end result.
Let’s look at the story of Lazarus of Bethany in John 11:3-4. “Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.”
Jesus said, “This sickness is not unto death.” What are you going to do with that statement? For as you read further, you find that Lazarus died.

Removing the Roadblocks to Health and Healing
The Bible establishes the fact that Jesus Christ came to restore us to right relationship with God. Through His blood, we are free from sin. By His stripes, we are healed. This sacrifice was without limitation to every person, yet not all are free from sin and not all are healed and well. Why? Because it requires something of each individual person.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1:12
In order to be free from sin, you must receive Him as your Lord and Savior and believe. To be healed and live in health, it is necessary to receive Him as your Great Physician and believe that He bore your sickness and pain. Receive and believe. It is accomplished and in God’s book, it is done! All debts are paid, healing and health is credited to your account. God is not the problem; we sometimes cause our own problems by hindering the manifestation of the health that God has given us.

Numbers and The Revelation of God - Part 1
It is interesting how God uses numbers and names associated with events in the Bible to amplify and confirm the revelation of the written Word.
Have you ever wondered why the disciples caught exactly 153 fish? Every detail in the Bible is significant, rather than being there by chance. God’s Word was written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and these details magnify the revelation of God’s Word. God is turning the light up for us today to the point where we can understand and see the meaning of some details that have been hidden in the Scriptures.
It wasn’t a coincidence that the disciples caught exactly 153 fish. Tradition tells us that it was a common belief that there were only 153 different species of fish in that lake. The implication seems to be that they caught every kind of fish that could be caught.

Numbers and The Revelation of God - Part 2
The prophetic implications of the gematria (numerical value) of names and phrases in Scripture are very revealing. (Read Hebrews chapters 3 and 4.)
Let’s review some facts concerning numbers associated with the name of Jesus. His birth was announced in the sixth month. He was crucified at the sixth hour. There are six letters in His name (in the Greek) which have a numerical value of 888 (the same as “the salvation of God”) revealing that Jesus is the salvation of God.
The number 999 is the gematria for the phrase “my wrath” found in Hebrews 3:11. The gematria for “Jesus” is 888 and “my wrath” is 999. The gematria for “Sodom” is also 999. God destroyed Sodom with fire from heaven. It was His wrath upon that wicked city.

Guidance of the Holy Spirit - Part 2
Let’s review four of the ways that we perceive the Holy Spirit’s guidance:
- Knowing
- Seeing (Vision)
- Hearing (Auditory)
- Feeling (Kinesthetic)
The most common experience among Christians is to be led by a “knowing” (or a witness to their spirit), however, there are times when people perceive things by “seeing.” Those who perceive guidance visually use terms such as “I saw in my spirit...” or “I just saw what God wanted me to do.”
In the book of Acts chapter 9, verse 11, the Lord appeared to Ananias in a vision and spoke to him to go lay his hands on Saul that he might receive his sight. This was both a visual and an auditory experience for Ananias. When you look at the circumstances (Saul was persecuting Christians), it would take a very strong impression of some sort to convince Ananias to go pray for Saul. He could have been killed!

Guidance of the Holy Spirit - Part 1
Jesus said in John 16:13, “When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.”
The disciples were dependent on Jesus to help them understand spiritual truths as well as everyday life. When Jesus left, they required help, just as we do. The Holy Spirit came to dwell with them and in them to give them understanding and access to all the wisdom of God.
“He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” John 14:17

Prophesying as Part of the Whole
First Corinthians 13 is often called the love chapter. It is sandwiched between chapter 12, which teaches on the gifts and callings of the Spirit, and chapter 14, which emphasizes the etiquette of the spoken gifts. I always looked at First Corinthians 13 as a pause to remind the Corinthians that everything is done in love.
However, Paul did not write in chapter and verse. This chapter ties into recognizing the whole body of Christ. It takes every part of every ministry gift to give us an accurate picture of the realm of the Spirit.
“Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” (1 Corinthians 13:8-12 ESV)

The Healing Power of the Word
Let’s read I Peter 2:24, “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.”
The WORD says you were healed. Sickness is a curse of the law, and Galatians 3:13 says, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us....” Matthew 8:17 says, “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.” He took your infirmities and bare your sicknesses. Learn to read the scriptures with a personal identification. Isaiah 53:5 says, “...with his stripes we are healed.” With His stripes YOU ARE HEALED. Someone said, “Yes, but you don’t understand. I don’t feel healed and I really don’t look healed.” That person has been programmed by the world system, the five physical senses. The WORD is not IN them. They may know about the WORD, they may even believe the Word is true, but until it becomes a part of them, it is not in them. Yes, I do understand. You are motivated by your feelings and not by the WORD of GOD.

Your Prayer Armor
In Ephesians 6:10-18, Paul is talking about prayer armor. In verses 10-11 he says, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Notice Paul did not say, “Be strong in your own might,” but “in the Lord.” It is His might. It is not something we have to work up to. We must simply be obedient and be clothed in His might. Put on the whole armor or, as the Greek says, the complete armor of God.
Would you know the armor of God if you saw it? It is God’s clothes and He is clothed in righteousness. He gave you His clothes to wear. Our problem has been that when we get ready to pray, we take off our breastplate of righteousness and throw it in the corner, saying, “Lord, I am so unworthy. I am so, no good.”
I can just imagine how God feels about such statements. He probably says, “Can you believe what they are saying! I sent My Son. He suffered and died to make them righteous. I gave them My clothes to wear, but they are laying over in the corner. Then they tell Me how unworthy they are because they don’t have anything to wear.” That must grieve the heart of God after all He has done to clothe us with righteousness. Be obedient and put on His armor. You need it!

This Time Tomorrow
You may be walking through a “dry place” in your life, perhaps having a difficult time… a time when it seems that all your opportunities have dried up. It appears that your financial needs are not being met and your future looks bleak. You may even feel like your prayers are not being heard. Circumstances rise up against you and you don’t see a way out.
Such were the circumstances in Samaria in 2 Kings 6:24-30: The entire city was in severe famine being surrounded by the armies of the king of Syria who was determined to destroy them. The enemy wanted to take their city and possessions. They could not leave the city to trade or get food from the fields or goods. They were literally starving to death. The enemy was “starving them out.” Have you ever felt that way? Like the enemy was surrounding you and preventing any hope, any answer, any encouragement from reaching you? These people were all waiting to die, without any glimmer of hope that things could possibly change. Even the king of Israel was so distraught that he ripped his clothes upon hearing that a woman had killed and consumed her child out of hunger. There was NOTHING he could do to help!

Words Are Your Servants
“Now it happened, on a certain day, that He got into a boat with His disciples. And He said to them, ‘Let us cross over to the other side of the lake.’ And they launched out. But as they sailed He fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water, and were in jeopardy. And they came to Him and awoke Him, saying, ‘Master, Master, we are perishing.’ Then He arose and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water. And they ceased, and there was a calm. But He said to them, ‘Where is your faith?’ And they were afraid, and marveled, saying to one another, ‘Who can this be? For He commands even the winds and water, and they obey Him!’” (Luke 8:22-25)
It was obvious their faith was in their mouth and in their heart. They believed they were all going to drown in the midst of that storm and they said so! They had more faith in the storm than in the words of Jesus who had said, “Let us go to the other side of the lake.” Now, if words are servants, would it really serve them to send their words out to perish by drowning in the lake? Jesus had already declared his intent and spoken it.

Parallel Plane of the Spirit World
“For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.” (Colossians 1:16)
There is another world that exists at this very moment on a parallel plane. It is invisible to the human eye, but just as real as the world we see. This invisible world influences everything that goes on in the earth. As a matter of fact, the earth itself was created from what we cannot see.
“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” (Hebrews 11:3)
