That Amazing Name

On the night of October 11, 2020, I had a dream that left an indelible impression upon me and impacted my faith in the power of the name of Jesus. I will quote from my journal, “I was in a tense situation, held hostage and surrounded by powerful, evil men. I kept pointing my finger at them and saying, ‘In the name of Jesus, come out of him. In the name of Jesus!’ They would freeze or get a strange look on their face, and some fell to the ground. I was amazed at what was happening. Then, finally, the boss showed up and I became a little anxious. Would it work on the boss? I pointed the palms of my hands toward the boss as if to say ‘Stop!’ and said ‘In the name of Jesus Christ.’ And he fell over backward in the dust.”
I awoke from that dream with such a strong faith in that name. I have studied and taught on the power of the name of Jesus. I pray in the name of Jesus. But through that dream, I was made to realize and experience in my very being how that name is, “above every name.” Philippians 2:9-10 (WNT) says, “It is in consequence of this that God has also so highly exalted Him, and has conferred on Him the Name which is supreme above every other, in order that in the Name of JESUS every knee should bow, of beings in Heaven, of those on the earth, and of those in the underworld...”
All beings in heaven, all beings in earth, and even all beings under the earth must respond in obedience to that name. But you must have FAITH IN THAT NAME. Many people use that name in vain or as a curse word. Devils know that name and pronounce it, but not in faith and not in authority.

As I meditated on the scriptures and this dream I had, I began to realize just this… that you must have faith in and BELIEVE IN THAT NAME. The Holy Spirit reminded me of Mark 16:17, “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues…”
I have often quoted this with the punctuation like this, “These signs shall follow them who believe, in my name…” However, since there is no punctuation in the Greek, I believe Jesus said, “These signs shall follow them who BELIEVE IN MY NAME…”
When studying the Bible, you must be able to find more than one scripture or principle to support that theme. Well, I found many scriptures. Let’s look at some of them:
In Acts chapter 3, Peter and John were on their way to the temple and there was a man who had been crippled from his birth, and every day he was carried to the gate to beg. When he asked them for assistance, he received a different kind of assistance: “…Silver and gold (money), I do not have; but what I do have, that I give to you: in [the use of] the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk!” (Acts 3:6 AMPC)
What did Peter and John have? They had the Name of Jesus. And they had FAITH IN THAT NAME. There is no mention of the man having faith. Peter and John gave what they had… the name that is above every name!
As you know, this man who had never stood a day in his life, never walked, began to walk and leap and praise God; so much so that he created a great disturbance among the Jews. Peter answered their amazement by stating the source of this miracle, “And His Name, through and by FAITH IN HIS NAME, has made this man whom you see and recognize well and strong...” (Acts 3:16 AMPC)
That Name is far above every circumstance in your life!
The story doesn’t end there, as a crowd gathered and the apostles were arrested. The high priests questioned them, “And they set the men in their midst and repeatedly demanded, By what sort of power or by what kind of authority did [such people as] you do this [healing]?” (Acts 4:7 AMPC)
Well, what an insult… people like you unlearned ignorant bunch…
Peter responded, “Let it be known and understood by all of you, and by the whole house of Israel, that IN THE NAME and through the power and authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, [but] Whom God raised from the dead, in Him and by means of Him this man is standing here before you well and sound in body.” (Acts 4:10 AMPC)
This put them in a quandary because this was a BIG MIRACLE and everyone knew it! So the religious leaders’ solution was simple. Peter and John had declared that it was THAT NAME that worked the miracle. It was THAT NAME that caused them to reach out their hand and yank a crippled man to his feet. It was their FAITH IN THAT NAME that caused his feet and ankle bones to receive strength. And it was THAT NAME that enabled his legs to walk, and further it was the POWER OF THE NAME OF JESUS that entered his mortal body and strengthened him to leap and praise God. So they forbid them to speak THE NAME OF JESUS!
“…let us warn and forbid them with a stern threat to speak any more to anyone IN THIS NAME [or about this Person].” (Acts 4:17 AMPC)
But the apostles did not stop and great miracles, signs and wonders kept happening daily, and people gathered from the towns and villages all around Jerusalem. The infuriated religious leaders arrested them again and put them in jail, but an angel opened the door and let them out. The angel instructed them to continue speaking in the temple about THAT NAME — JESUS.
Imagine the look on the chief priests’ faces when they thought they had them solidly locked up, and yet there they were BACK IN THE TEMPLE PREACHING IN THAT NAME! So they rounded them up and brought them before the Sanhedrin. “We charged you not to speak IN THIS NAME or ABOUT THIS NAME and now you have flooded Jerusalem with this Word.”
For the second time, they forbid them to speak IN THAT NAME, flogged them and let them go.
Guess what they did? They never ceased for a single day to speak in THE NAME OF JESUS. And the miracles and healings continued…
Back to my dream… Shortly after my dream, a situation arose that threatened the daily operations of our ministry. There were 2 men involved and the Holy Spirit reminded me of the dream. In my prayer time, I spoke to each one, “IN THE NAME OF JESUS, come out of him!” Now I don’t know all the details, but the situation was resolved! Using THAT NAME looses the angels and moves all circumstances.
Ephesians 1:21 declares that God has exalted Him far above all principality, power, might, dominion and EVERY NAME that is NAMED, not only in this world but in that which is to come.
Your Authority on earth is in His Name.
We must exercise heaven’s gift, the NAME OF JESUS and invoke His power and authority in our lives, and the lives of others who need Him. We must invoke the AUTHORITY OF THAT NAME over our family, communities, states and the nation.
THAT NAME and all it represents has been given to you. Now GO and use that name to break the power of sickness, disease, and poverty and bring them to the Son. Church, rise up and take your position! You are the body of Christ!
