What Are You Saying About Your Health?

What are you saying about your health? I mean in every day conversation, when talking to someone on the phone, to your spouse, to your friends, to your children. What are you saying to yourself about your body?
We may think we are just talking, but guess what? Your body is listening to you!
I remember as a child when the adults in the room were talking and a subject came up that they didn’t want us to hear, they either whispered or sent us out of the room. Why? Because it could have an adverse effect on us.
Perhaps we could think of it this way; your body is a child who hears and interprets what you are saying and reflects that very thing. After all, you are the parent and the child imitates the parent. Do you really want your body to hear you saying:
“My arthritis is getting worse and I will probably end up in a wheel chair.”
“My blood pressure is so high that I will probably have a stroke.”
Your body will respond to those fear-filled words just like a child would. Which of you would scare a child like that??? Fear is contagious, even if scary words are spoken in jest or without emotion, they paint a picture that generates fear in the hearer. (Think of campfire ghost stories. They are made up in someone’s imagination but produce the emotion of fright in those who hear.)
Is your body frightened when it hears you talk? Does it recoil in fear? Then stop saying that!
Comfort it with the promises of God:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.” (Proverbs 18:21 ESV)
“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.” (Deuteronomy 30:19 ESV)
- Sickness and death are in the power of the tongue.
- Healing and life are in the power of the tongue.
